Raiding for 3/18 (Meeting)

Seeing how both groups are on Guldan and we are going to have roughly 3 hours of beating our heads against the big bad meany i want to take this time to say a few words.

You all are doing great. really Great to be honest. It is a hard hard fight. i have logged over 50+ wipes on the boss myself. so keep all your chins up. I know it gets frustrating and with that it starts to effect our morale core of our raiding aspect which is to have fun. If we raid we raid. If we wipe we wipe. But at the end of the day we are here for fun. I think some where along the line we sort have lost that fun aspect of Grievance and i blame myself for not seeing it and addressing it sooner. So.... this evenings raid we are going to have a morale retreat. O dont worry we are still going to raid. but for the first 30 min (Or longer) we are going to do the following.

Each Raiding Group is going to have a chit chat with there raid leaders. Let them know what has been bothering them and please dont hide anything or say there is no problems because i know there is. Ask them questions and please make them serious questions such as...

Why do we feel the need to rush to get to bosses so quickly when we have now 6 - 8 hours to attempt to complete Heroic Nighthold ?

Can we have an overall explanation of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of Guldan, Maybe we are missing something ?

At what point do we start removing people for under performance in DPS/DMG, Healing and or Tanking ability ?

These are just some of the questions that might assist you in chatting with your raid leaders. If you have a questions Write them down and ask them tonight. Also you guys and girls can go to the raid leaders at any given time. Pull them off to the side and ask them whats up.

It helps to also remember, every x-pac, there's bound to be a couple of fights that just trip you up. I for one love the fact that Heroic raid content is challenging yet possible. We will get him down soon!

I agree, I appreciate the folks that have come forward to tell us what they like or aren't crazy about in our raiding efforts - it so helps us make adjustments. Everyone has accomplished so much. Don't forget to have fun though while bringing your A game!

This is what I got out of the meeting:

If your healing/dps numbers are not exceptional you are wasting the rest of the groups time and you should not be there.

We do not want anyone new added to our raid group because it puts us behind in progression waiting for them to catch up.

If you die to mechanics more than 3 times you should be called out in TS and if that does not fix it you are wasting the groups time and should be removed.

I just wanted to say that I thought Nighthold had been going well. I apparently am mistaken. I am not sure what the Tuesday, Friday/Saturday raids are intended to be at this point. I don't think anyone was in the raid group trying to waste people's time and I would think that we all wanted to kill bosses as much as anyone. I also understand that some people have more drive on clearing content than others. For some it is fun being part of a guild group and killing things together, for others it is more about a steady group to clear content. I was under the impression that the Grievance raids were more about being a guild group and killing things together. If I am mistaken please let me know.

I can understand being frustrated in a fight, but Grievance actually progresses really well considering they allow all their guild members that meet minimum requirements join the group- I thought anyway- and it was so fun! That is what Rut and I have grown to love about Grievance- the way that everyone is welcomed in and can join activities. We actually have tried talking family members into putting a character into the guild because we have been so impressed by it.

There are certainly some members that I could see clearing mythic content in the guild. So why do they chose to stay here vs finding a mythic guild to get more kills, more glory, more bragging rights? I think it is because there is more to the game than just killing pixels and Grievance offers that. Grievance truly offers a community and I was saddened last night to see that maybe raiding is taking the front seat over such a welcoming community.

Just my two cents anyway. I am just a casual in the group and I apologize if I was part of anyone's frustration with raid nights.

I do agree with Torvi/Rut on this subject.

There was a night where we should be pushing content and another night where we could be all inclusive. That was how it was when I first joined Grievanve. There were times in the beginning where I didn't meet my numbers for the progression night and I was removed from the group, it brings me down to the core and makes me think what did I do wrong. That is fine as it was a progression night, it makes me want to better myself so I can be an asset for progression night instead of being a hindrance. In the farm nights, I know I can get better loot, practice on strategy, work on my rotations and try again for the progression nights. I feel like this philosophy has been lost when we got to Nighthold and working on progression bosses.

IMO, I like what we have done in the past where the nights for progression and nights for farm are clearly stated. If for whatever reason there aren't enough people on for progression nights, both team should consider combining for those nights.

First and foremost, we are a family and we are to respect one another. Rest assured that when we learn of an issue that goes against this, the leadership team addresses it. You may not see it always. In this case, we are holding a meeting as I type this.

I thank folks who have reached out to me and others. By hearing your concerns and thoughts, we make better decisions. Whenever you get a bunch of folks together there can be bumps in the road. Working together, we keep things on the straight and narrow.

I remember a time a while back I was dying to content wayyy more then I should. I was also not performing at a level that reflected where I should be at. I was asked to take a look at myself and correct my issues or I would be asked to sit out. I spent the next week going over my character/gear/talents/play style and adjusted how I play. I did a hard introspect on what it was I was doing and I talked with fellow guild member who played windwalker monk about what they did to figure out what I could do to improve myself. This made me realize I had most the basics down but my execution was lacking on how I tied it all together, also due to my lack of overall understanding of the fights I was having trouble putting together an entire picture of the fight in my head.

I feel I have made adjustments successfully and while I still die (less) and I have brought myself up to what I feel makes me a solid member of the raid team. I want to contribute to the overall success of the group. I personally feel I am responsible to make sure I am bringing the best I can so the overall team can be successful. If I am making mistakes or causing problems then I am bringing the entire team down. I do not want to do that as I want to respect everyone else's time commitment to come and raid with me. I feel if I am not bringing the best I can then I am letting everyone else down and that is not fair to the team. My goal in each raid is to improve and bring more to the raid so we can continue to be successful as a team.

For me I want to enjoy the social aspects of the guild. I have always taken raiding as a extremely hard thing to accomplish. It takes dedication, structure, and solid group coordination to be successful at it. Like anything in life practice makes perfect and raiding is a learned skill. While some see it as fun and I agree Normal Raiding is indeed fun and easy to do; Heroic raiding adds complexity and difficulty that requires dedication to the art of raiding. I personally try to make sure I am up to the task of being a raider worthy of everyone else's time.
