Rivance/Virance - Dominion
Rivance/Virance - Dominion
Hello!
I intend to apply for non-raiding membership for the Dominion faction on Caretaker. My girlfriend will also be applying later today. IÔÇÖve been playing MMORPGs for quite a while (started with Anarchy Online, but IÔÇÖve put the most time into World of Warcraft and City of Heroes). I acted as raid leader of my guild from Molten Core through BWL in WoW before stepping down to a class lead slot for Naxx (Naxx ended up killing the guild, like many others). In TBC I had less time to devote to raiding and mostly stuck to 10 man content where I could still raid lead with a far more casual team. Since then we have played pretty much every MMO that has come out for short periods of time, but havenÔÇÖt been too serious about any of it.
Now IÔÇÖm older than I was in the 40 man days of WoW and doubt IÔÇÖll have the time to dedicate to a static raid schedule, so neither of us are looking to join the raiding ranks (maybe when Winter rolls around). I might be interested in helping to organize and run 'off night' alt/non-raider attempts if there is interest once we have a large group of end-game players (I know the guild charter says that alts will never be a priority for the guild, and that's totally cool as well - but if there is interest I don't mind chipping in). We tried to do the Looking-For-Raid thing in WoW but found the content to be way too easy, and the lack of progression really made for a toxic experience overall. Wildstar seems like a perfect fit for us, the 5 man content looks like it has genuinely interesting mechanics that should keep us satisfied without having to step foot into the 20/40 man content to get our fill. We are looking for a guild primarily because, to me, MMORPGs are fun when they are a social experience. They are a ton of fun when you can get a group of guild mates together and learn content on voice chat. I am insanely excited to start tanking in Wildstar, and IÔÇÖd prefer not to pug it (not because IÔÇÖm afraid of wiping ÔÇô because I want to learn the content with people IÔÇÖll keep playing with in a friendly atmosphere. If we wipe, we wipe! No big deal, pick ourselves up ÔÇô discuss what went wrong ÔÇô and do better next pull!)
Outside of playing MMOs I am an independent game developer. My primary role is lead programmer, but we are a very small team (my boss is a designer, and I have two programmers who I manage). Right now most of our work is in the education arena, so nothing you guys would be too excited about IÔÇÖm sure. IÔÇÖve developed internal guild addons in World of Warcraft before and would be interested in doing it again for Wildstar if the guild found a need for any custom tools.
Anyway, I just want to hop into voice chat and learn new content without anyone creating a toxic environment when things go wrong. IÔÇÖd also love to do some casual PvP with guild mates if there is interest.

Re: Rivance/Virance - Dominion
Howdy and welcome! Wow, excellent bit of info there. I think you may be surprised as to what people are interested in, especially regarding your line of work. Quite a bit of the members of Grievance are "older", married, with children. Although we still get into raiding, dungeons and PVP, we also have quite a bit of people who don't have the time to dedicate to the more "hard core" elements such as yourself, so I think you'll find yourself in good company.

Re: Rivance/Virance - Dominion
Thanks! It seemed like a large, diverse group of players (and the TS server certainly has a ton of activity already in the Wildstar channels!). I'm currently in a very long queue, but I'll hop in Teamspeak for now to start getting to know everyone.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Welcome to Grievance! I'd shake your hand but I'm in the queue. B)
