I am hoping that this "hybridism" creates more healers and tanks in the long run.

A lot of people don't heal or tank simply because they never have. They have ideas about these functions, usually bad, from listening to people complain about the jobs.

Also, keep in mind that your "spec" can be changed at any time while not in combat. Well, at least your skill loadout can be. Amps cannot, but amps simply "amplify" your specialization. What this will do is create a system where if one person is not pulling their healing weight, or dps weight, you can swap out a few key abilities.

Imagine this.. you are a healer, I am the tank... I am over geared, and very good at what I do. In normal games, this causes healer boredom as they are relegated to only having a few real offensive abilities. In wildstar, you would be able to drop most of your healing abilities and grab more damage ones! In the case of a medic, all damage with a few of the combined ones!!!!

You have that backwards. The tank uses more dps abilities so the healer has to work. ;)

Heheh, well...as a possible future healer, I'm cool with that too! At least there are options in this game.

I'm pretty sure each of the healers can go Hybrid or at least add a few dps skills to their limited action set. I have a feeling in the 40 man raids it wouldn't hurt to have a few dps put aheal on their bar.

I'm looking forward to it I think going full heals on any of the 3 might be over kill what if your the last one alive and don't have an attack on your bar. Scary thought. So I think most healers will keep at least one attack on their bar if not 2.

Limited action sets bring a whole new way of thinking into what we do.

Yup! It's funny because in a lot of games, you'd just have all your powers available. Limited action sets makes you have to strategize a bit more. In addition it can make you more unique and/or important in situations due to what action sets other people choose. Pretty cool.

From watching the live streams, the healers all had full support builds and people were still dying/getting close to dying...

I am actually concerned the other way, that if healers try to hybridize more, than other people will have to hybridize more.

This games healing looks to require more communication amongst tank/healer than other games. Or at least more vigilance from both.

Yep a lot of this game is going to be awareness. If I'm droping heals and everyone is getting in them except one dps, I'm going to be letting that person die and keeping my tank and other dps alive.

It's like with the Esper they put the lantern in the ground and everyone needs to be in that circle or they don't get healed, or the medics fields. The tough part for a medic is going to be ranged dps not wanting to come in close and having to run back and forth to heal people or getting them to understand where to be.

Situational awareness is going to be key to all of the fights being able to move and mash buttons at the same time. Normally you only see that kind of action in pvp now your going to be seeing it in everything you do.

I'm wondering what the raid make up is going to look like 4 tanks 8 healers and 28 dps. Thats going to get crazy real quick! :-)
