What We Know About Beta So Far: When and What to Expect
There have been SO many questions about the WildStar beta, I figured I'd share the actual known facts about how things will work. I know that everybody will want in right at the start, but keep reading to make sure you have the right expectations about how this will happen.
First, everybody needs to sign up for beta here on the official site.
WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT BETA
At this time, WildStar is expected to launch sometime this year. This means that we are very close to closed beta testing. Here's what we currently know about the upcoming WildStar beta:
Closed beta is currently scheduled to begin in April (and is subject to change).
There is currently between 150 and 170 hours of 'content' that will be gradually rolled out over the course of the beta.
Closed beta will begin with "a couple thousand" players and will start with limited content.
Gradually over time more content will be tested and more people will be invited.
Guilds and large groups will be a future focus in order to test out Elder Game content such as raids and WarPlots (in the next few months).
All of this is subject to change and this is a true beta test, not just a 'trial'. Carbine needs larger groups of people to see what's working and what needs adjusting.
DON'T EXPECT A LOT OF CHATTER
The reality is that not everybody will be invited right away. In addition, it is VERY likely that people who are invited to the first wave of closed beta will not be permitted to say that they are included nor will they be able to speak about their game experience. It's critical that people actually test the game since this is what will help shape the game that is released. Unfinished content is unfinished, and smart devs stay true to their vision but adjust based on player feedback.
MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
For those of you that applied, keep in mind that beta builds are not always optimized to run on lower end machines. You must have a system that meets these requiremenets for the game to run smoothly on your computer:
CPU: Intel Pentium Core2 Duo 2.4 GHz, AMD Phenom X3 2.3 GHz, or better
RAM: 4GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, ATI Radeon HD 3850, or better
Operating Systems: Windows XP SP2 (64-bit) or later. 32-bit systems are not supported during beta
STAY TUNED
As new information is released we'll be sharing it with our readers. However, I'd like to point out that we will not post 'leaks' on this site. Sure, we're as curious as the next player, but if it's not meant to be news - we won't post it.

Carbine seems open to player feedback, based on some of the interviews they've done about the Friends & Family phase. Here's hoping this is the case.

This is exciting. I was thinking this game was a '14 release and it is now driving me nuts knowing it will be out this year.
Dang job...need to be my own boss so I can play all my games.
