Raid Gear Question

Post by Tynkir » Fri Nov 27, 2015 4:29 pm

I'm working on getting Tynkir geared up to raid. Is having a couple of pieces of PvP gear frowned upon?

its not that frowned upon... What we look for always is DPS/DMG Done if your DPS... or HPS if your a healer... or if you are having trouble staying alive..

Some times PvP gear works.. some times it does not...

Pray to RNG that you get some loot.

But make sure you read the raid information as well as sign up on the raid roster :)

I have indeed been reading the raid information in preparation for tossing my hat into the raider ring once I'm eligible and prepared. I could be reading it wrong, but it seems to me that I need to wait and see if y'all accept me as a member first. As far as being prepared, in game I'm working on gearing up. Out of game, I just need to get through the end of the school term. Finals, etc. is not the best time to start raiding as my schedule may become topsy-turvy. Also any studying up I do on the encounters may fly right out of my brain as soon as I read it during finals.

About the PvP gear, I'm looking at itemization and there is an item or two with multistrike and crit. Multistrike and crit are quite shiny to a frosty little mage such as myself.

PvE gear will end up better in the long run. That said, PvP gear is good enough to get you started as long as you know the ins and outs of your character and raid mechanics (rotation, raid awareness, etc...).

I cant speak for what grievance alli require, this is just a thought on PVP gear. Generally in this expac their is no differance in PVP vs PVE gear until you start getting into set bonuses, trinkets and with the recent patch rhe fact that honor gear cant be valor upgraded. And PVP primary stats are weighted a bit heavier in stam taking away from whatever the primary stat is albeit int, str, or agi.

Other than that the PVP gear you can buy from the honor vendor is ilvl 700 for the purposes of PVE (shoots up to 730 in pvp) and is statted the same ways with the same secondary stat weights as normal PVE, and is a perfectly viable way to get geared for raid content quickly.

If you have an arena carry, it is even better as the regular arena gear is 710.

So although you would want to replace them with actual PVE gear ASAP whether it be through mythics, normal raids or empowered baleful items, some honor pieces to gear a fresh toon up to proper ilvl is indeed a viable option.
You either get bitter or get better. You either take what has been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person, or you allow it to tear you down. The choice does not belong to fate, it belongs to you.
