A good read for future WildStar raiders.
A good read for future WildStar raiders.
This link was tweeted earlier today and I thought it would be a good idea to share it here. I personally haven't done any raids in WildStar yet, but I have seen enough and read enough to know that the points brought up here will be very helpful when raiding night comes along in WildStar. No matter the game being raid aware is very important.

Raid awareness is so extremely important that it cannot be stressed enough. I do think that they way they train you with the telegraph system pretty early on that it will feel somewhat more natural when we do make it to raids.

That's a very good read.

I've learned a lot over the past years, especially from WoW and TSW. TSW mechanics are so unforgiving, in groups or raids, mostly everything will one-shot you if you don't move; movement and awareness is key!

Re: A good read for future WildStar raiders.
Reading this kinda makes me wonder if I should even aim towards raiding. I'm absolutely terrible at awareness and despite loads of practice(and the authors impression that it can be bettered) I have never gotten any better at being able to juggle paying attention to multiple things on screen at once.
I don't even drive in real life because I can't pay attention to everything on the road at once and I'm terrified I'll hit something/one.
Just playing single player as a medic is a sensory overload with all the telegraphs from both me and the enemy. What worries me is the fact that in the first adventure I had a decent amount of HP left, looked down to see if a skill was off of cool down, and looked back up to find a tiny circular telegraph had killed me before I even knew what had happened.

I loved it! I used to lead new recruits in my guild before Grievance to help place them into proper raids. If we died a few time instead of singling people out right away I would normally start with a line like this "Let's die to enrage and then we know all we have to do is dps a little faster". Hitting enrage isn't bad if everyone is alive getting used to telegraphs and mechanics is ok. Then the fight become how do we shave 20 seconds off this bad boy.
Raid awareness is the single biggest keys to success 500 dps is better then the 0 you contribute if your dead. Normally when People struggle mightily in PVE I get them into a few matches of pvp which can at time be pure chaos. I like to follow them around even if we die alot and lose and talk about what happened. I find once your dodging the attacks of eight other players moving one spot to the left to avoid a big red circle isn't that hard.
Rotation and stats can always be worked on and mid maxed but it means nothing if you can't live long enough to use that knowledge. Wildstar seems to put a great amount of effort into making raid awareness more important then flawless dps. The raids in Wildstar look amazing!
Last note. I was really impressed last night with our introductions on the dominion side. Lot of talented players that just hit the age or time in their life where 6 nights of raiding 5 hours just doesn't fit into the schedule anymore. I love to raid with talented players that want to learn and do well without the we have to be on right after the patch so we can go for server first, and we aren't stopping until this boss dies. Raiding should be taken seriously it should also be fun.

There is an add on Called Aura Mastery and I'm sure there will be others at launch but it can be set to make a big debuff icon on you when things are on you. It's pretty useful for raiding from what I have seen in videos.DemonLamma wrote:Reading this kinda makes me wonder if I should even aim towards raiding.
