Paths
Re: Paths
At least I know I want to play an Esper...and my main profession with be architect, but I have heard I need a gathering alt for that, so looks like a stalker alt with mining and survivalist...and I am now heavily leaning towards Scientist...my first pick when Paths were announced way back when.Shiera wrote:This is by far the only game I have played that has had me at my wits end as far as what I want to do. I have never been so indecisive in my life! So yeah...I see alts in my very near future

Re: Paths
I originally was planning to go with the Architect tradeskill till I found out that they removed everyones ability to gather any resource (albeit if not specialized you would get less stuff)... Because Architect needs a bit of materials from more gathering tradeskills than you are capable of doing on the same toon at the same time...Nionya wrote:At least I know I want to play an Esper...and my main profession with be architect, but I have heard I need a gathering alt for that, so looks like a stalker alt with mining and survivalist...and I am now heavily leaning towards Scientist...my first pick when Paths were announced way back when.
Don't get me wrong, you can technically change tradeskills and not lose any levels in the ones you changed from, but there is a long cool down on changing them out and it gets rather expensive...
I wish they would go back to the original method... Don't get me wrong, i'll have alts regardless, because i'm an altaholic, but I just feel like Architect gets the short end of the stick since most of the other crafting skills are not like that...

Re: Paths
Exactly why I like the idea of architect....a challenge to get it leveld up..I plan to have an alt leveling in the day, as I level my main in the evening. I am a profession-a-holic...I will be a bit obsessed with gathering on my alt.Zippity wrote:I originally was planning to go with the Architect tradeskill till I found out that they removed everyones ability to gather any resource (albeit if not specialized you would get less stuff)... Re: Paths
I'm thinking of taking survivalist and Mining on my Medic Main and then level an alt up to 10 and take Architect and Outfitter. From what I can find, and I admit I may have missed something but only the FABKits seem to require something from relic hunter.

Re: Paths
Great video for paths, it even covers the skills you get. IMO the biggest reason to pick a path =-)

Is there level restrictions on leveling professions?Oaire wrote:I'm thinking of taking survivalist and Mining on my Medic Main and then level an alt up to 10 and take Architect and Outfitter. In other words, in order to max a profession, does your character have to reach a certain level?

Re: Paths
Well I thought there wasn't a restriction however I just looked it up and it turns out there is. It looks like the majority of things can be crafted at level 10 but the top tier level 50 stuff appears require you to be level 50.Nionya wrote:Is there level restrictions on leveling professions?Oaire wrote:I'm thinking of taking survivalist and Mining on my Medic Main and then level an alt up to 10 and take Architect and Outfitter. Guess that shoot my idea out the window. Guess I will have to make my alt the gatherer and my main the actual crafter.

Re: Paths
The zones only contain certain difficulties of gathering materials, so as you reach the cap for that zone you will get less tradeskill experience for gathering in that zone... Which also sort of places a level requirement on gathering skills, since you would have to go into higher level zones to keep skilling up your gathering tradeskills...
