WildStar European Division

Post by Steelheart » Sat Mar 29, 2014 9:24 pm

Recently it was announced that the WS servers were going to be regionally locked. This means that European players will not be able to play on American servers unless they buy an American WildStar game. After chatting with a couple of members I've become curious as to just how much interest we may have in forming a Grievance WildStar Division. So my question is, if you are European and find yourself falling into this category, would you be interested in being part of a Grievance European WildStar Guild?

Please post your interest here if you are interested.

For me personally I am from the UK so would fall into the european side. I would rather if possible have a US side account if that meant that I could stick with the friends I have made thus far and I would hope this would be something that could be sorted with Carbine.
If thats not something that is possible however then I would be interested in a european version so I could continue playing with Grievance.

Edit:

Having looked into this it looks like I am likely locked to european servers and to change this would now have to delete my entire beta account and have to create a new one with new email, loose all my stuff, boxes etc...
Sigh.

I will keep looking into this but I feel rather let down by Carbine if this is the case as I wont be able to play with the people I have now made friends with

If you already pre-ordered then this is the case, you are stuck with your region. However, if you do not have a pre-order as of yet (or IF you pre-ordered directly through carbine you CAN change your region). Carbine should be able to refund your purchase as long as it was through them. You would lose all your boxes and everything like that, but there is a way for you to purchase the NA version (because all sites region lock your purchase at the moment). Amazon.com is selling the NA version, but the catch is that you have to have a US billing address to purchase from them. I had this same issue when I was trying to purchase the game (I had to use windows remote assistant to a family member in order to use their IP address to purchase the game. I am able to purchase the NA version from Amazon because I do have a US billing address while living here in the EU, or many other members in the US could essentially purchase a digital NA copy of the game, and sell you the key that way. For the moment that is the only way to be able to play the NA version upon launch while being in the EU.

Sadly looks like I am screwed then as I have already purchased and not through Carbine. Sent them a ticket and expect pretty much the same response back. Well I hope we can muster up a bunch of lovely european friends then :)

I am disappointed that Carbine or NCSoft decided to limit players like this, it really hurts guilds such as ours. They should have let the player make the decision rather than force it upon them.

Sadly in many cases companies don't have the luxury of not limiting players by region. Especially in MMOs when they have to have server farms in order to handle the load. They just purchase the servers from another company, or something to that effect, so in essence they don't even control where the servers actually are. It would be nice if companies stopped limiting players by region and simply put up a list of servers and made them NA/EU/Oceania or whatever and everyone could pick their own, but a lot of times it isn't physically possible to do this.

Where did you purchase your copy from? I know for a fact that greenmangaming.com will reimburse you. They did for me with (2) copies (wife and I) of ESO when I changed my mind to play WS vs ESO.

I purchased (2) digital deluxe copies (wife and I) strait from Carbine for the 74.95 + tax = $79. When greenmangaming.com had the 20% discount I asked carbine for a refund. They did reimburse me for my (2) copies but they closed/terminated the accounts I already had registered. I purchased the digital deluxe copies from greenmangaming.com and had to create brand new NCSoft accounts in order to register the new CD Keys. We did lose day 1 of the boxes, but hey, we saved $50 on our (2) copies.

So I guess the moral of the story is, it doesn't hurt to ask for a refund, especially since the game hasn't launched yet. You will however need a friend to buy the game for you if you don't have a US billing address. Then you can just paypal that person the money and they can give you the CD Key.

I got the copy from Greenman gaming like most people for the discount on the digital delux. For me its going to be a fairly difficult process to have to destroy my account this late on and find someone to get me the American version of the game. I will just see if we can get together a european version and if not will have to decide what to do from there sadly. I just wasn't expecting them to realm lock the servers when most modern MMOs have moved past that for years.

I agree it is a bit dumb. Hope you can play with the gang.... It really seems like something they would end up getting rid of for the sake of community...
