From my reading I gather that both of these Paths have some nice perks that complement them. The Settler description say something about "unique item" once you complete a major task. I am wondering if this is a house placement item or something that just gathers dust. I first thought to go the Settler route but began to think that the Settler will be using tons of crafting mats. Since I will be going the Architect route for crafting all the nifty house items, this would require me to find some way to support my crafting mat addiction. To ease the mat burden I thought that I could switch to Scientist instead of the Settler but I don't know if the Settler can make any housing items.
Does anyone know (within the NDA) if the Settler can make any housing items?
If not then I will go the Scientist route to save on mats and gain the nifty summon group ability which I think would come in handy at times.

Paths -Settler or Scientist
Re: Paths -Settler or Scientist
I found part of my answer in a Chief Sarcan gameplay video. The Settler uses a foraged material that looks like a chest called "Salvaged Machine Parts" to build or enhance things. The Settler does not use normal crafting mats you have to forage i.e. wood, ore etc to level up their Settler experience.

I think I might go Settler for my first toon. I have a feeling it will be an under utilized class. Having the ability to drop little buff stations should be pretty awesome for group gameplay.
