That's what I was thinking they were doing but this brings up another question. I assume this is going to apply to Guild Names as well. If that's the case it would seem like the two factions guilds may have to have different names and not both be able to have the name Grievance.

It also says that for player name reservations, the reservation is tied to the email account for 90 days. I assume the same is true for guild name reservations. So in theory, one of the guild leaders can reserve the "Grievance" name and claim it on their server. After that, I would assume the name would be opened on all other servers. This would then allow the other guild leader to create the "Grievance" guild on their own server.

Of course, the second guild leader could also reserve an alternate guild name but only claim it if something goes wrong and the second guild leader is unable to get the "Grievance" name.

Additionally, Carbine said the final list of server names will most likely be released 24-72 hours prior to head start.

We will post the list before headstart, but I'd love to hold it until 24-72 hours before launch.

I am sure Soul and Kannon will be getting together soon to go over the whole guild name thing, so as of right now, you guys just figure out what name you want to reserve, we only get one..when that site goes up to reserve, hurry hurry hurry...

As this post states, realm list will not go up until possibly 24 hours before launch, so it is doubtful we will know what realm we are rolling on until that time.

I see some jerks in the world going to nab some very common name that people use for MMOs and selling it. I hope this doesn't happen but I'm sure it will.

The calm before the storm. Well, it's the day before name reservations and we are still without other information, FAQ or even when this feature is going live. Here's hoping the FAQ will be up sometime today. What's with the secrecy regarding names and server names, I wonder.

I just preordered today. Didn't get any email regarding the name reservation. Starting to read up a little and this sounds like a kind of half-a##ed way of doing things. Global lock? Huh. No information as to what time this site will be up? Hell, I don't even know where to go to register. The main Wildstar site?

I guess it's a good thing I'm typically off on Tuesday. If this websites server can handle the load.....I'm expecting the worst. Hah.

According to some Reddit AMA or something on the website, they said it isn't that they are keeping the NAMES secret, but the number of servers. Basically they want to walk that fine line between too few and too many servers. If they give out 15 server names now, but they decide they need only 10, whoever decided to go to one of the 5 that are cut are going to be ticked if they don't get the word, or get it to their guild members, to go to a different server.

I understand why they are doing that, but they are cutting things very close. As far as the name reservation issue, that is a by-product of this holding off on the server names. It has to be a global lock since they aren't ready to give the names and amount of launch servers.

At any rate,they should just dump the whole name reservation and let it be first come, first serve during head start, IMHO.
