I know some of the people complaining on FB just can't afford the cost. That I do understand. Others are just whining because they are the same people that feel most content should be free like music and movies.

Artists should be fairly compensated for their work. Running an MMO costs the company money every month. They need a steady income to keep developing new content and keep the servers running. This model will also put more pressure on them to release a great game. Might be part of the reason for the delay.

Oh absolutely! I do think they should be paid! That's why I try to put in at least $10 per month in GW2 to support them. Heh, just kinda invalidated my earlier question, didn't I?

This is exactly why a sub is a good thing. It will cause many of these types of individuals to play the FTP games and stay away from Wildstar.

Very interesting, thanks for the post. I wonder what they'll be using the CREDD for... I know they talked about a hybrid model, but right now this sounds like a straight up subscription deal. (Not that that's a bad thing, by any means.)

Here's Wildstar's official pseudo-interactive description on how their payment model will work...

LOL, the very end of the "fancy story" is hysterical! In seriousness though, it shows how the guild could help some people that can't afford a sub fee to still play. Pretty interesting idea.

I'm very excited about this personally! I much prefer sub based games. Perhaps I'm just a sucker, but I find I always spend far more money in "ftp" cash shops then I ever did with subs. I spent $260 in neverwinter. That equals a $60 box sale plus $200 for around 4months of play I think. That's far more than a $10 per month sub :)

This news makes me ecstatic! A subscription with the option to buy game time with gold. Love it, works for EVE. This gives us possibilities as a group / guild.

I do the same. I've spent way too much on Black Lion keys in GW2 and never get anything good from the chests. I can never go to Vegas.
