From what I read with this it sounds like everything should be difficult but fair as far as attuning. Although I'm confused why there are all those attunement steps and then it says you can just buy the key with 150 Elder Gems.

Well so far nothing is particularly challenging. Veterans adventures put time limits on some objectives and the final boss gets tougher, not overwhelmingly so. I am hoping that some of the steps involve a raid group at some point.
I believe that you can not earn 150 elder gems in a week, so there is a small time gate. You can easily farm rep and run adventures and dungeons to take care of some steps. Either way I am excited to do this for real.

I was curious if anyone knew for sure in regards to the Elder Gems, will they only be awarded for boss kills in Elder Dungeons, or will there be a variety of ways to earn them?
I'm sorry if this was answered elsewhere in this post or another post, I tend to be blind when going back to look lol

You get them from xp for just doing anything like dailies, pvp, pve,.
