I hate it.
To elaborate, we now have mandatory push to talk in the raid channels. While I'm sure I am in the minority on this as most people already use push to talk, it really cramps my style having to use it. Mostly it just ends up with me not talking or calling things out. I don't know how many other people it affects and I will obviously deal with it if it is here to stay.
I understand the arguments for having mandatory push to talk; people making gross noises, having inappropriate conversations, mouth breathing into the mic etc. I get it, but it takes feedback from your fellow players just as a quiet ,loud, staticky or otherwise noisy mic takes your guildies to help you sort it out so you don't annoy them. And if you're not compliant or don't care, well then you're a jerk and you get muted or kicked off discord if you refuse to turn on push to talk. Easy Peasy.
We also never had it in Teamspeak so I'm not sure why it's become a thing all of a sudden.
TLDR: Push to talk is uncivilized and archaic.

Push to Talk Feedback
Re: Push to Talk Feedback
I think you may be one of the only ones I never realized didn't use the push to talk and I was surprised to learn you did not use it. You are pretty good at having an open mic lol. I did not realize this was a rule now, where there issues in the raids with open mics? I had never noticed it but, again I have been out of raids for 6 months or so now.

I agree Gil, unfortunately I sit at different desks all the time so restringing a foot pedal multiple times a day is unappealing.
Yeah Torvi, the tech has come a long way, especially in discord you can set it so that shaking your headset, breathing heavily or lots of other things don't pick up and it's mostly just voice active. For other stuff like coughing fits or eating I have a toggle mute button.

Hello there (:
I think I have had enough babies crying in the background, people talking to their partners / spouses, coughing, etc for a life-time. I think push to talk should always be a requirement haha. <3.

We never actually had a rule of this but I always heavily recommended people use ptt in our swtor imp raids. My recommendation was so heavy in fact that I would warn you if I even so as heard a peep from your mic. There were also times that the voice activation would bug and stay activated....thus resulting in hearing the family dog barking or the creepy stalker style breathing.
I personally have no problem with this being a mandatory rule. It just comes down to old fashioned respect for your fellow peers and everything else the group is trying to accomplish.
Just to add.....I use a very conveniently placed button on my razor Naga for ptt. My hand never leaves the mouse while I speak.
