"Event Schedule:
The event will be held on December 11. The start and appearance times for members of the NCWest team for each server are posted below. There is no end time for the event so players can engage in the open world PvP for as long as theyÔÇÖd like."
I'm not sure if that means that it will last all weekend or just until Saturday. Either way a little open world PvP to make things interesting

I missed that line of text, I was just looking at the schedule. I'll have to jump in and get my butt kicked by higher levels.

Yeah those times are just the times the devs are going to start the event (who doesn't want to kill a dev?) but it will go on I think as long as people are interested. If it dies down you can always throw on your crimson leigion outfit and fight in the pit just south of there. There is almost always someone there doing dailies (though sometimes its group of 45s)
