Can't patch

Post by Cercei » Thu May 08, 2014 5:54 pm

Is anyone else running into an issue where they attempt to patch and get stuck at 0kb/s downloading, or the updater just sits at 0%, or even where the launcher won't open and it sits at the little Wildstar loading bar and does nothing?

This is the second night in a row of this crap for me and frankly I'm about ready to pull the plug if Carbine doesn't address it. There is a major issue going on right now for Verizon FiOS users and there hasn't been a single dev anywhere to say what is going on or how they plan to fix it.

Yup, I have the exact same issue. Submitted a ticket on it. I found on the WS forums only one thing that got me past the patcher to be able to play the game. If you don't have a VPN, download Cyberghost 5 http://www.cyberghostvpn.com/en_us . Make sure you're not currently trying to patch and that anything WS launcher related is closed. Turn on cyberghost and let it pick a new IP for you. After that, run your patcher. It will be slow and weird, BUT you will be able to get past the patcher in order to play. Once the patcher is done and the big play button comes up, turn off cyberghost so that the game doesn't get silly about not recognizing your IP. That's what worked for me. Oh and I ALSO have Verison Fios and I'm on the East coast.

I don't get it, isn't Carbine even trying to get this fixed? I don't see how we should have to pay for something at launch where we have to VPN in to download a patch

Update: If you can't patch post in this thread with a Tracert:

I'm assuming they are. There may be quite a bit of stuff going on that they are trying to get to. I'm going to bump the posts on the forums mentioning that it's still a mess and that the VPN was the only workaround and like I said, I did submit a ticket today about it.

Here's a Dev reply on the thread you linked...

Hey all,

For those reporting problems coming from FIOS:

I've been in touch with our NOC and our Network Engineers in order to see what, if anything, we can do to provide relief to our players (Thanks for the traceroutes!). We've reached out and talked to our CDN provider, and ultimately we have no faults or errors on our networks. We've successfully pushed over a PB of data out to users today in multiple continents across the world. (okay maybe not a PB to EACH continent, in total)

All that is left to us at this time is to suggest that those affected reach out and talk to FIOS directly. Our NOC and Network Engineers are more than happy to discuss with any FIOS rep that wants to reach out to us, but we are not eligible for support with customer ISP's.

I'm frustrated, because I really really like helping WildStar players (so do many of us here at Carbine), but I've exhausted everything I have at my disposal at this point in time. We'll keep looking at our side of things off and on while these reports keep coming in, but the hours of investigations into this has resulted in this just isn't a problem we can fix. It isn't ours :(

For those of you who aren't FIOS customers, please keep reporting in issues and we'll see what we can see, but we are successfully pushing TONS of data out today, easily our biggest day to date as far as pushing data over the internet.

I just read that. So basically if you are a Verizon FiOS customer you are out of luck and should go play a different game because Verizon isn't going to care about random scattered people calling saying they can't play a game.

Well maybe not. I'm not sure. As much as I'm not thrilled with the extra step, using the VPN works for me and it's only an additional thirty seconds or so.
