For the heck of it, I figured I'd count up who posted in Nionya's headcount thread so far viewtopic.php?f=544&t=11992

139 total

100 who didn't mention a faction

23 Exile

16 Dominion

It was tricky watching double posts and making sure I watched updated sigs from people that stated which faction they were on, but the above numbers are what I came up with.

Don't forget that most people don't post or even read the forums, but are active in games. This is actually a good number. There will be many more that play than posted. Also we'll have a lot more post launch.

Can you guys do a poll feature on these forums? Should be easy to track with newcomers still inbound over the months before launch.

Poll's for the faction of choice that is. Classes will be fuzzy until open beta or so.

I'm glad someone did this. I was very curious but alas I am eternally cursed with a minor number crunching impediment.

Factions numbers will be good to know too, due to having separate faction guilds.

I'm also curious to see how many people finally play the game and then decide they want to be part of the other faction or a different class. Always wondered how many people stick with the class/faction that they found most interesting pre-release versus how many change.

Yeah, stuff like this is why we don't read too heavily into numbers this far in advance of launch.

And there will be those who will change their minds...probably more than once which side they will finally end up on

Most definitely. I think this shows that the Grievance presence in WildStar will be very large. Don't forget that the game doesn't launch for another 4 to 6 months. The people reading the forums and watching Debuffed are the minority that are huge fans of the game. Most people don't even know about the game. A lot of gamers only know that it exists, but nothing more. The majority will see the game in the stores and pick it up THEN look for a guild. The fact that we have over 100 who state they are already planning on playing the game in our forums roughly a half year prior to launch is fantastic.

I really just can't decide which side I want to play on yet, but I'm leaning towards a Chua Spellsinger healer. This will also depend on what that last healing class looks like.
