I was reading this and I just kept thinking how awesome! You want people to be able to play crossserver, I love that. In my oppinion that is one thing SWTOR completely failed at was offering no crossserver gameplay. Seriously I like hanging out with my guild, outside of that I'd like to be able to pop on and get a group for just about anything right away.

I think what I liked most in that post was the group finder ability to be toggled to only people from your own realm. I like being able to play with people on other servers occasionally, but I find the aspect of meeting and playing with people specific to my realm refreshing. If I am liable to actually see those same people around on my realm, I am also more likely to care about meeting them, talking to them, adventuring with them and so forth.

Plus I really used to enjoy having realm specific communities. Oh, and rivalries. PvP was at one time much more fun back in wow when I went to BG's and I knew the names of people in the opposite faction who I was competing with. Obviously, that article didn't say anything about pvp, I just sorta hope they'll include some ways to keep that realm-relevant as well. Queue times and things never actually bothered me much. I just hope for options to play with and against the people actually on my own realm. I wonder if we'll have realm specific forums available too? I love that stuff :D

I think the more significant detail (which is actually months old already) is there was enough community outcry over cross-server that Carbine went back and added the functionality to be same server only, if you check the lil box. I must admit a great amount of jazz over being able to communicate cross shard and (seemingly) quest cross shard.

The following is my opinion and abit soapbox ranty, apologies in advance ...

I'm completely fine taking longer to get groups with people from my own server because in my opinion cross-server LFG groups were one of the worst things that ever happened to MMO communities, I understand shorter que's for DPS' and if you want to roll with that I certainly won't stop you. But there was a massive rise in epeen and virtual machismo-ism after cross shard, common curtesy went flying out the window, ninja-ism rose to such an extent that need v greed was created, then had to be filtered because people would take any item they thought might be valuable, need then /pquit and go back to the home shard with no mark on their rep. I miss the days when mmo communities could hold their db's accountable, play like a tool long enough and no one would group with you.

At the end of the day we can all play our own way, if you choose to play cross shard lfg more on fer ya, it just ain't fer me.

Another exciting prospect to consider is the "guild suite" I mean if this much is going into parties and chat and the other social tools I look forward with great anticipation to seeing what they have in store for guilds.

haha it's funny how much people lean one way or the other on this. I found in Rift I loved playing cross server if you play at random hours, basically anytime off peak you could easily get a group and I would say a good 90% of the people were awesome. Haha every now and then you would get the super ninja looter but it wasn't often enough to make me worried. I find it really doesn't matter if it's just on your server or cross server the fact is about 25% of the population of any mmo is just grumpy, bad tempered, and rude. The reason we tend to join guilds is to find like minded people we have a great time playing with. I find in most game I have a pretty selective friends list and long ignore list.

Anyways I love x server and shout it from the rooftops LOL. If I wake up at 6am on Saturday and want to grab a pug group then I can, and I love it. I do love a group finder that will search for people on your server first it helps you meet some new people and keeps you sharp for recruiting. They funny thing now would be you could seriously recruit a player from a different server and have them come raiding with you. Great way to test people out before you bring them into the fold.

I think the sense of community in this game is going to come from housing and the larger guild sizes you will need for 20 and 40 man raids. I can't wait to see the really cool housing creations people come up with. I'm a huge Crafting housing Junkie and an alt-a-holic. It's going to be great!

Think with 40-60 people in the guild there could be so many 5 person groups going whenever it's going to be pretty darn cool.

I like having the option of queuing locally for one large reason too. Recruiting. For me, some of the best MMO recruiting I have been involved in has been simply running dungeon/flashpoint runs with people.

As someone that often rolls nothing but DPS, I welcome the news as waiting times can really suck...

As I said, if ya dig xserver more to ya. And even tho I don't like it I will use it, my play schedule can be varied. xserver definitely has it's perks, odd playtimes or dps being tops among them.

I am excited to try healing now that whack-a-mole appears to be out the window, I may give tanking another go too, but right now my heart is set on Spell Slinger, and I will gladly try healing for my Dominion guildies.
