The guild system explanation was very confusing - did you make any sense out of that?

How I understood it you form up a circle of friends, go do some quests together until you get enough renown (currency for guild stuff) to buy the guild so you can start inviting people, then you gain more renown for doing stuff with your guild to make the guild better.

What I do not understand is why are they splitting groups so much. Circles are sorta cliques, but not quite, and you still have the random one offs for friends list. Where does your guild actually fit in that? Its like they are introducing 2 different types of guilds just for the sake of pleasing everyone. <>
