Did you catch the VERY end of it, where, I think for the first time, Jeremy says that it's going to be a Hybrid model for it's payment model?
I don't know if that just means, "monthly sub with a cash shop," or if it will be closer to GW2's model... very interesting.

Thanks for the links!
It will be interesting to see what this hybrid payment models turns out to be.

I personally rather just have a subscription and no worries about receiving regular content updates, yes that's a big assumption. I'm still in secret world mode where I have one raid I log in for twice a week and next to nothing else to do in the game because the business model doesn't encourage content releases.

Its not a business model problem, its a going all in with pocket 9s issue. I am honestly surprised that Funcom is still in business with how they run things.

I'd honestly like to see an MMO take the route of the Season Pass. Release the game, charge your $50 or $60, no monthly fee, then offer a season pass for the next 4 big updates at like $25 or something like that. This way, you get the best of both worlds. No monthly fee plus a purely cosmetic and convenience items (ie character/bank slots, etc) shop, but still a reason to release content updates. I guess Turbine has something similar with LotRO but they are kind of far apart for the kind of updates I'm meaning with the Season Pass.

Sounds like what Defiance is doing

Will be very interesting to see the pricing model. As long as it isn't Pay-to-Win. I'm down for anything from 15$ Sub to a lower sub with cash shop as long as the cash shop is strictly cosmetic in nature and as long as you can not buy ingame currency with real money.
GW2 was a big turn off for me because of this.
Gaffney has already said the model will be in some hybrid form.... we'll see.

Personally cash shops annoy me as I think it is wasted development time that should/could be used on content, but the way things are going lately looks like i am the dinosaur in this regard...
<Grumble> SWTOR stupid cosmetic cat man Cartel coin update! BAH

Its not wasted development, its what is paying for the game.
