Raids Warplots and some random thoughts
Raids Warplots and some random thoughts
Like most of us interested in this game I have reading/watching everything I can find about it. After reading a reddit thread it occurred to me that the way their elder game will work will be very progressive. By that I mean it seems like you will have to progress through the different levels of content to get to the best rewards. From my understanding 40 man raids and 40 man Warplots will provide the best rewards. Kinda like TBC was in WoW.
If that is the case it will require a focused effort by the guild to achieve a high level of success in those areas if we plan to participate in them. I think that is something that should be discussed as soon as possible so our recruiting can be more focused. There will only be so many high skill level players per server. If we plan on competing we will need as many as possible. I know in the guild right now we have enough players to compete, but I don't know how many of them will be playing Wildstar.
Carbine seems ready to give guilds and players that can preform at high skill levels recognition inside and outside of the game. This would be a great way to get the Grievance name more exposure in the gaming community.

I am honestly a bit worried about 40 man being the only path to prosperity, it is so much harder to get 40 people to carve out the same few hours than it is for say 10-20. I like the idea of making the content REALLY hard in and of itself rather than making it an administration task of organizing 40 people. I by no means am agains folks that put in tons of time having better "stuff" than i do at a much faster clip, but i just hope they offer different paths for people that no longer have consecutive hours of time to dedicate to downing bosses on a weekly schedule especially on the PvP side.
I honestly like the way that MMO's have been going by allowing different paths to continue to progress your characters, in the event where you kids, work, etc... will not allow you to have three nights a week where you can sneak in a few/5 hour play sessions if you want to see all the content the game has to offer.
just my thoughts in a thoughts tread

I feel the same way I've done limited 40 man raids back in the vanilla WoW days, but I still remember what it took to get one started. I would much prefer the 20 man raid size, but I don't think it will give the same level of rewards as the 40 mans will.
I've never been a big gear person, but I do love the feeling of doing the hardest content. Even 5 people all focused on doing something really hard and getting it done is a great feeling.
My hope would be to raid twice a week. The progress will be slower, but hopefully still yield results. Like you I'd also like to PvP and Warplots is going to be top content on that side.
Hopefully the beta will show that 40 mans for raids is just too much work, but if not maybe the 20 man content will be hard enough to feel worth while.

Re: Raids Warplots and some random thoughts
I am sure our future guild leader(s) (one per faction + oceanic) will be taking all things into consideration. I don't envy them or their raid leaders this daunting task. I am nervous and excited to see 40 man raids. I am like so many of our gamers who find themselves with ever limited game time. I hope to be able to participate in at least one run of the 40 man. I can't wait to see how we handle this task.

Yeah don't care how shiney my shineys are just don't want to get rolled out in a 20 warplot match by a full 40 war plot super hero. I think titles, cosmetic skins, mounts etc should be enough to make hardcores feel good...imo content that is challenging should be about timing with using the right skills at the right times and great raid communication more so than my new sword hits harder so i can now win. I have been having a blast in 55 pvp in SWTOR with some good players the last few days because we are all around the same gear class and the matches have been fun and competitive!Xryus wrote:I feel the same way I've done limited 40 man raids back in the vanilla WoW days, but I still remember what it took to get one started. It will be a daunting task indeed to manage that amount of people. I'm sure those chosen for the task will be up for it. Like you Im looking forward to getting into some of those runs.NightAngel wrote:I am sure our future guild leader(s) (one per faction + oceanic) will be taking all things into consideration. Re: Raids Warplots and some random thoughts
I don't really foresee Grievance being competitive, IE: realm firsts etc. However, I do feel that we have enough of interest and talent to progress fairly nicely in the Elder game. I think putting the stress on us of having to gain "recognition" in the Wildstar community for downing a boss first, or even quickly would be a bit much. I think just being able to focus and form a 40 man raid group, who actually progresses, is recognition enough in my book!!!
I look forward to the challenge...bring it on!

Re: Raids Warplots and some random thoughts
What I meant by recognition wasn't world first type stuff. For me at least even thinking of playing at that level has long passed. I just meant being able to complete the content at all, and have some recognition on the server. It takes a focused effort to raid at any level but LFR as a guild. I remember the top guilds on the server recruiting for people to raid while we were still in the starting area.Nionya wrote:I don't really foresee Grievance being competitive, IE: realm firsts etc. However, I do feel that we have enough of interest and talent to progress fairly nicely in the Elder game. Re: Raids Warplots and some random thoughts
In my humble opinion, Grievance is not about world first achievements and being number one in a game. We are family that joins together in these games to have fun. The stress of being elitist should not be what we are looking for. And I know from experience that the people we bring in to be at that top spot in a game are not people that fit with our ethos.
40 man raids are all fun and good but the sheer effort to pull it off is crazy. I think smaller group and multiple raids are a better plan of action.

I see your point...imo, 40 man raids would be fun, and I do hope we have enough interest and members to achieve them, but if not...it is far from a game breaker for me.Xryus wrote:What I meant by recognition wasn't world first type stuff.
