Hi folks My characters name is Ziry.

My real name is Gordon. I'm a 28 year old 3rd/4th year university student in Victoria Canada studying marine biology with an ocean sciences minor. I've played computer games since I was about 7 on an old Pentium II 400mhz comp and when now have something much better than that over-sized calculator. I scuba dive when I get the chance even though the water temp year around is only 6-8c or ~44-49f. Tons to see here. One day I hope to dive in water where a drysuit is nearly required.

On the gaming side of things I raided in WoW from MC40-AQ40, All of BC uptill 3rd boss of sunwell, and Wrath till ToGC. I consider myself hardcore in that sense that when its raid time its game time. I was a class leader and officer in several guilds which usually the DPS were fighting over second place since my name was penciled in for first even without the best gear. I'm a firm believer in "That the gear does not make the player the gear enables the player to what they should be able to do.". When asked what this means I take 2 examples 1 is a person who plays this class until he/she has mastered it and is always working to improve themselves without relying on getting items x y z. they make due with what they have and their drive pushes them to the next level. For them the gear only enhances what they are already going it is a tool. While player 2 waits for items x y z thinking that is what they need to what they are suppose to do. In essence these people are always playing catch up the the former type given a similar gearing path. I have seen it time and again be they DPS, Tanks or Healers.

When playing in instances ect I play the tank/DPS as I know I cannot heal I don't have the mind for it. The other do I can do either equally well and don't mind having gear for both as yo never know when someone has a bad day connecting or RL gets in the way.

In game communities I very much am for the social side of things outside of raids ect. That is what lets guild build themselves up and form the glue that holds them together though the rough times ie wiping on bosses for weeks in WoW because your stuck at a gear gate (I'm looking at you Vaelastraz...asshole). Helping each other get better and just shooting the poopoo is what makes these games enjoyable. While I do not have the luxury to be playing 7 nights a week 8 hours a day anymore I will be online as much as I can and getting to know you all and having a good laugh with you all and I'm sure learning alot from you as I learn this new MMO which for the first time in a few years has caught my eye.

edit I should say Ziry is still new ~lvl 9 as I wa playing with different classes and paths to decide what combo I wanted to main as.
