Hello everyone
I'd like to introduce myself - my real name is Matt, my in game name is Kelric. Lets start with my gaming history:
I got into video games at the ripe age of 8 when I received my first console, a Magnavox Odyssey 2 (I should probably skip a few years (decades) so this doesn't get too long). In 1993, after graduating college, I got my first PC and went right to work putting as many games as I could on it. This involved things like setting IRQs for soundcards and freeing up high level memory (anybody remember those fun days). During this time, I pretty much played all the classics: Ultima, the SSI games (I really liked Panzer General and the old Eye of the Beholder games), XCOM, the first Diablo, etc. I played the original Everquest briefly, but I was back in school and working full time so I couldn't get into it. With the release of Everquest 2 and WoW, I sort of switched from exclusively single player games to almost exclusively MMOs (I still play single player games, but the bulk of my play time is MMOs). In the past 10 years I've played most of the big releases with Everquest 2, World of Warcraft, Eve online, Rift, and The Secret World being my most played games. In game my favorite activity is running dungeons (I really like the way everyone has to work together to accomplish a goal, with each person having their part to play). I've never really gotten into raiding, but I can see where it would be something I would enjoy.
A little about my personal life:
I'm 44 and I work as a math teacher.
I tend to try many different hobbies, often changing them (except gaming which has been pretty much constant my whole life). Some of my previous hobbies include: board gaming, minatures painting (Warhammer 40k- couldn't get into the game, but liked painting the figures), computer programming (ended up with a degree from this one), hiking (really enjoyed this, might get back into it), bowling, target shooting, and collecting stamps.
My latest hobby (maybe better description would be mission) is to build the Ultimate Stereo to listen to music on. I will not succeed in this because the Ultimate Stereo would cost more than I will make in my lifetime, but I am learning a lot and what I have put together sounds really good.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to see you in the game
