Hello everyone, my name is Joseph. I am a 40 year old gamer that enjoys the relationships, the challenges/progression, and the mental aspect that MMOs have to offer. I have been playing MMOs in one form or another for the last 15 years. My most recent addiction was World of Warcraft, where I was a GM for several years on the Mal'Ganis server before leaving the game after 10 years. I made many friends over the years leading raids and guild functions, but unfortunately the GM position also meant that I was putting the needs of the many before my own, and that led to heavy burnout. My goals and vision for our guild were nearly identical to that of Grievance as outlined in the guild charter. This similarity was a bit odd to me, so I decided to track down someone to talk to before applying, and Dralyn was my point of contact.
I cannot begin to say how fortunate I was to come across Dralyn for my questions. He was forthcoming, helpful, and completely candid. All of the things I look for in an officer that will be representing the guild to the general populous. So thank you to Dralyn for his initial guidance.
Back to myself a bit more. I am lucky to have an amazing wife that enjoys playing MMOs with me as well, and she may begin playing this one once the summer begins. Our time playing together through the years has been some of the most enjoyable, and I can honestly say it made us better communicators in our everyday lives.
As with most husband/wife combos, her first entrance into the MMO world went something like this;
"So honey, I have been playing this new game and I think you would really enjoy it."
"Oh yeah? What is it?"
"It's World of Warcraft, and let me tell you how AWESOME the shopping and crafting is. I think I even found the perfect class for you, it's the most powerful and really fits you well."
"Really? What's a class and what kind of shopping?"
"A class is what type of character you play that has specific abilities. I think the priest is perfect for you. And oh yeah, the shopping is great too! Everyone is selling something, and you can make stuff by collecting materials."
The truth was, at release the shopping sucked and so did the AH. BUT, I was playing a mage and needed a heal bot
And so we played for years as a priest and mage pair hitting up raids on raids, and spending sooooo many nights playing. THEN the unthinkable happened !! She realized playing a healer is a thankless job, and she wanted to kill stuff. She rolled a warlock and all I could think is now I have someone else to bid against with DKP. Oh well, that was fun while it lasted. /sigh
Anyway, during my years I spent time in a very small handful of guilds ranging from the edge of content hardcore guilds, to my final home as a casual progressive family style guild. I haven't been excited to look for a new home, but your charter sounds like a perfect fit for me, and possibly later my wife.
My goals in the game are to experience all end game content at a pleasurable pace while building and maintaining great relationships with like minded gamers. I do not apply to guilds randomly and without conviction. With that said, yours is the only guild that I am looking into at this point. I am currently leveling an Aurin DPS Esper named Jaingo, which will be my primary raiding toon. I would like to raid up to 3 nights a week, and I need a static schedule in order to plan appropriately. I am a retail store manager that has the ability to make my own schedule, but static play times are necessary. With my goal of raiding, I will be bringing an obsessive personality for being a top performer during raids. I will show to all functions prepared, on-time, and with a perfect attendance record. The only thing I ask in return is a fair environment that will reward commitment appropriately.
