Greetings! I ran across you guys on the Wildstar forums and this looks like my kind of guild. So, a bit of background:
My first MMO-like experiences date back to a couple of the old Battletech MUSEs back in the mid-90's and as much as I loved MWO (which I played in beta near-obsessively for more than a year) before they broke the UI earlier this year, I sort of miss the old all-ASCII all the time gameplay, where you had to do the math in your head and account for the lag as you went.
More recently I played WoW for about 3 years with a great little guild called SWotH - a pretty mellow working-man's guild. When we got tired of WoW we reformed in SWTOR for a while but I eventually bailed because, as much as I loved the PVP, I got incredibly bored with raids that were nothing but 3 hours of memorized fight choreography. Challenging? Yes. Interesting? Not for long. I did love the incongruity of being a Sith healer, though.
I've poked at a few other MMOs but Wildstar is the first to really grab my attention and I've been drooling over it since I first saw it at PAX nearly 2 years ago. I finally got to try it out at PAX 2013 at their afterparty. I played the beta on and off since February but was a little hesitant to explore it *too* much as I wanted things to still be fresh for me when the game actually launched. I have to say that I love the combat system - it's way more intense than WoW or SWTOR.
My main is a Cassian Esper (level 17 now) and I'm going healing with her. I'm hoping that with the Wildstar combat system raiding will be more interesting than it was in WoW or SWTOR but I suspect that PVP will be my bread and butter. My greatest joy in WoW was pouring me some bourbon, firing up some rockabilly, and hitting AB and AV with my guildies. I was sad to see the rapid decline of those BGs when the larger ones came out after Lich King.
As for me, personally, I'm 40, live in Seattle and have been in IT since I bailed on college to get in on the first .com boom in 1994, with a 6 year break in the middle where I was a professional cheese maker (seriously). Now I'm a freelance web developer and my current gig is only about half time at present so I have extra time to burn online. Beyond that I'm an avid swing dancer - I travel a lot for it, compete, have started DJing events and will likely start teaching later this summer. For people who are dubious of such things I'll put it plainly - my obsessive hobby is dancing with pretty girls - it's hard to go wrong here.
In any case, from reading the forum thread and poking around the site here, you folks seem like a pretty solid group and I'd love to join in the fun!
